A letter to my younger self

Dear younger me,

The first thing I’m going to need you to do is stop trying to please everyone. It’s an impossible task and it’s something you’ll never accomplish. Start making decisions based on what makes you happy.

If someone is putting you down, stand up for yourself. Don’t let anyone bully you or talk down to you. Speak up and put your foot down. I don’t care if it’s someone close to you or not don’t let anyone disrespect you.

Looks aren’t everything focus on being the smartest person rather than the prettiest. Don’t obsess about your weight, getting your hair done all the time or making sure your eyebrows are perfect. Use your energy to learn as much as you can and be pretty on the inside.

Stop playing it safe and take more risks. Trust your gut and do what’s best for you. Don’t work at a place you hate just because everyone else settled for a 9-5 life. If you want to bounce around jobs to find your passion do it. It doesn’t make you a failure.

Travel as much as you can and go places you’ve never been. Traveling is a great way to learn and experience different things. You learn a lot about yourself when you travel.

Whatever you decide to do with your life and however you decide to do it make sure it’s a life that is making you better and happy. Don’t let people make you feel like they can tell you how to live your life.

I love you and will always have your back.

The future you.

What would you write to your younger self? Let me know in the comments.
